Matt is the executive director of the International Galapagos Tour Operators Association, an association of travel companies, conservation organizations and other groups dedicated to the complete and lasting protection of the Galapagos Islands as a unique and priceless world heritage.

Matt’s career in the travel industry began in college when he spent a summer guiding groups of travelers across Alaska and Canada’s Yukon and Northwest Territories. Since then, his love of adventure has taken him from the high Arctic to the Antarctic and, in between, to many wild and wonderful places throughout Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and the Pacific.

He is motivated personally and professionally by the belief that travel at its best is not only one of life’s great pleasures but that it can be a positive and transformative force for good in the world. He was born and raised in Colorado and received his B.A. from the University of Colorado. He currently lives in Cape Town, South Africa, with his wife, Maggie. and their dog, Jones.
